This little guy was moving and I blew the focus. But I laughed in the otherwise silent Cedar Grove rest area when I reviewed the photo and saw the eyes. Transmigration of souls, indeed!

Taken from "Oo-Ah Point." No lie. You come around a corner on the trail and suddenly the canyon opens up before you. A hiker referred to it as Oo-Ah Point, and the name stuck.

The thing about the hike down the Bright Angel Trail is that you work pretty hard wiggling between adjacent plateaus and the view doesn't change all that much.

Bright Angel Valley. The perspective is a bit deceptive because as the valley stretches back toward its vanishing point, it also narrows. So the sense of distance is magnified.
